A.C.Marine - History

A.C.Marine was established as a trading company in 1992. Ing. Anthony Camilleri, then a 34 year-old mechanical engineer, a keen yachtsman and ex-national dinghy champion for the Enterprise class dinghy started importing Sails and rigging equipment. The majority of the boats at that time had no genoa furling and reefing systems installed. Anthony tapped the void in the market and with his engineering background decided to start selling and installing these systems. A mobile workshop was set up in a van that offered rigging services to all the
sailing yachts in the marina.

In 1993, A.C.Marine was appointed Kemp Masts U.K authorized dealer and service agent in Malta. Kemp Masts UK was owned by Selden Mast of Sweden and A.C Marine still represents Selden Mast Sweden today.

In 1994, A.C.Marine became a limited liability company and was appointed authorized dealer for the German shipyard, Bavaria Yachts, that started up in Giebelstadt in 1978. The first prototypes of the Bavaria 37 and the Bavaria 39 were launched in Malta in Summer of 1994 and the international brochures for these models featured pictures taken on location in Malta. The yacht test for the prototype Bavaria 37 was also carried out by the German sailing magazine ‘Yacht’ in Marsamxett harbour. Like the best German cars which have a reputation for quality and sophisticated engineering,
the Bavaria range of yachts uses advanced design and materials to combine high performance with tremendous strength. This German yacht building company is known worldwide, where it earned an enviable reputation for innovative design and quality construction.

The annual sales for Bavaria Yachts in Malta went from strength to strength and by 1999 record annual sales were reached when 12 new yachts were sold during that year alone. By 2008 the annual sales increased further reaching 16 yachts annually. In 2008, Bavaria launched the new Vision series which included a three-model line-up, consisting of a 40ft, 44ft and a 50ft. A.C. Marine Co. Ltd. sponsored and campaigned a customized Bavaria 50 Vision - “Windward” for short-handed racing & cruising. They were successful in this category organized by The Royal Malta Yacht Club including winning the John Illingworth trophy in the Double Handed Class of the Rolex Middle Sea Race. Apart from this prestigious award, the Bavaria 50 Vision Windward was also awarded the BICREF RMSR 2008 Trophy.

Until 2018, the Bavaria fleet in Malta was in excess of 150 yachts which varied from 30 to 55 footers, all of which are privately owned and were imported by A.C. Marine.

From 1997 to 2019, A.C.Marine Co.Ltd. represented Elvstrom Sails of Denmark who also supplies sails to Bavaria Yachts. Many local and foreign sailing yachts benefitted from the supply and upgrading of sails on their yachts through the measuring, ordering and importation of sails by A.C.Marine Co. Ltd.

In 2009 A.C.Marine Co. Ltd. was appointed dealer for the Italian sport sailing yachts T-yachts based in Monfalcone in the North Adriatic. The first Marco Lostuzzi design T-34 was purchased and raced successfully in Malta in 2010. The regatta wins included the prestigious Rolex Middle Sea Race Double Handed Division in 2010. This yacht was sponsored by Bank of Valletta and sailed under the name of BOV Plain Sailing - Tango 34. The success of this event

was promoted by T-Yachts and was featured in many international sailing magazines.

In 2022, A.C Marine acquired the dealership for SVP Yachts d.o.o of Slovenia; builders of Greenline, OceanClass Hybrid Motor Yachts and Shipman Sailing Yachts.
